In the book, Think and Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill talks about building your network into your Mastermind Group which is simply a refined network that will help you in your path towards obscene wealth and success. There are many examples of people in the book Think and Grow Rich that built their own networks to help them achieve the success they are looking for.
Identify your specific business niche. Know ahead of time that the persons you are marketing to will benefit from your services. Selling will become quite easy after you accomplish this. Check out your niche ideas with current clients, friends and Source contacts. You can get valuable referrals from these people too. Go to trade shows related to your industry and look at who is buying. Then, be sure to reach out to this audience.
Target a market where people are currently spending money. This basic concept holds true because there are literally billions of websites on the Internet today trying to sell something.

We won’t be getting any feathers from the manu-o-ku anytime soon. Heck, I can’t even find one; I’ve tried! I wanted to find one so that I could take a picture of this pretty white bird with the black beak and black legs so that I could talk about it here. But, I haven’t found one yet! That doesn’t stop us from making a white lei with black kukui nuts and black ribbon at each end to match the color of Honolulu’s official bird!

What better place to enjoy this then a popular, well ran sports bar. When you are cooped up in an office all day, you feel like you have to be up tight all the time. Well when going out to lunch, you can let loose a little, and let the casual setting of a sports bar take some nerves off of you.
The bottom line is this, networking is a skill and like any skill it will take time to practice and that is why you must follow the four step process. Remember, elite swimmers do not win Olympic gold without a clear plan and a lot of practice and networking is no different.
